FELLOWS, INTERNS, & AWARDS
Chi Sigma Iota's goals, as specified in its strategic plan include recognizing excellence in counseling scholarship, research, leadership, and practice, and developing leaders for the counseling profession. Each year, 10 fellows are selected who have provided evidence of leadership potential within their chapter. These individuals, including two selected as interns , receive recognition, specialized leadership training, and financial support to attend CSI activities held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Counseling Association.
Fellow and intern nominees must be members of CSI, have the support of their chapter, and a commitment for a matching fund award from their chapter. CSI also provides recognition to members through an annual awards program. Chapters are encouraged to develop awards programs at the chapter level using the Awards Training Program (which is available to chapters through the log in area for chapters) and to submit nominees for the Call for Awards Nominations. In addition to awards for outstanding members (e.g., for exemplary research, entry-level students, doctoral students, practitioners, supervisors), awards are given to chapters in recognition of outstanding achievements, including newsletters and special programs. The Thomas J. Sweeney Professional Leadership Award, named after the founder of CSI, is given annually to an individual who reflects Dr. Sweeney's vision, leadership, and concern for others.
A list of all award recipients for CSI awards annually may be found in the attached table.
Each year a description of the awards recipients is prepared and distributed at the Awards Reception. A copy of the Annual Award Program is placed on the CSI web page for review by chapters as well as members who are unable to attend the Awards Reception.
